Type Locality and Naming

Lithology and Thickness
Coarse-grained sandstone. It comprises dominantly of ferruginous coarse-grained sandstone. At base, a clay bed is seen. The maximum thickness of this formation is about 180m
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The lower boundary of the formation is gradational with underlying Akli Fm. However, in the easternmost part around Jhak village, the formation directly overlies the basement.
Upper contact
The upper boundary is unconformable with overlying Kapurdi Fm.

The formation is poorly fossiliferous except for the lower part where indeterminate angiosperm leaf impressions are seen.
